The podcast 1619

At first, when I started listening to some podcast audio, it didn't seem attractive or interesting to me, rather it seemed boring to me because it was something new and I didn't understand much. But as I got updated on how to use the technology that I have at my fingertips and my smartphone, I have become a fan and addicted to listening to podcasts while driving, cleaning, and doing chores, or when I go for a walk. Now I consider this tool very essential in my life and I cannot miss it during the course of the day. I like listening to self-improvement articles, science fiction, and real-life cases, I really like listening to millionaire minds channels, motivational real estate updates, etc. Currently, I am always recommending or sharing the podcasts that I think will benefit my closest friends, and my family and I try to instill it in my two young sons Emmanuel and Gabriel, 15 and 13 years old.

I really liked listening to the moving and unfortunate experience of the 1619 podcast. I was moved to tears at the denouement of this tragic story of Eddie's uncle who affectionately called his niece his "bird". In the narration, I liked listening to the nuances of music changes and pauses while she was narrating the happy moments of how Nikole Hannah-Jones's friendship with her uncle was getting closer and closer. Also, the sounds and pauses emphasized the disagreements of the events, as well as the tone of his voice to transmit moments of happiness, sadness, impotence, and pain with the purpose that his audience could receive the direct message of unconditional love, of oppression, discrimination, and injustice. This podcast made me reflect on the injustice that the minority lives on a daily basis where they are oppressed and deprived of receiving medical attention for not having health insurance. Thousands of people have suffered irreparable damage to their health and have even died due to negligence and racial discrimination. This podcast made me feel very sad because the guy did not have the opportunity to live or save his life because of the absurd medical system and mediocre humanitarian laws.

I believe that podcasts can be very beneficial for me to use in my classroom while teaching Spanish. Because with the implementation of podcasts, students who are not native Spanish speakers can hear the pronunciation of the Spanish language in different tones of voice, and different accents. There are some short films that are very interesting to learn about Latin American cultures and their traditions. Some of these have videos and visual slides that facilitate the curiosity of the students to continue connecting with the content of the class. I also believe that as a future dual language teacher who will be helping emerging bilingual students who are newcomers to the USA with limited English proficiency, I will make it easier for them to teach their English/Spanish pronunciation so that their immersion and acquisition of these new languages is easier. and transient in an effective way. I think listening to a podcast where we can adapt them, chop them up, and edit them to be a little bit shorter and not as long. This could be a powerfully useful tool to help emerging bilingual learners. I think creating fun podcasts with relevant content from our resumes will give us the opportunity to be more creative, as well as help students hone their skills by creating their own podcasts to give presentations and practice presenting and projecting. their knowledge. Now that I'm learning how to use this tool of technology, I think promoting podcast use in our classroom would be an incredibly fun project, engaging students of all ages. I think sharing some of the platforms to edit our podcasts by adding music, impact sounds, suspense, harmony, etc. Our students will feel more motivated to be creative when preparing their podcast assignments in whatever parameter they choose, be it interviews, writing their own stories, anecdotes, tutorials, narratives of some reading, etc.
